The shaker philosophy dates back 5 thousand years before an electric guitar was born. From that time the parable about two frogs, who
had fallen into a milk jug reached us. One of them got into trance, while another one began to shake up
the environment. The shaker survived.
The SHAKER was formed in 1992 in Kirov in the Urals. The cats stick to rokabilly mainstream with shots of blues, twist, boogie and country.
The group lineup has remained practically constant from the very start and now looks like this:
Alexey Vinokoorov - guitar, vocal
Roman Tchachshin - drums, lead vocal
Dmitry "Killur" Laletin - double bass, vocal
Dmitry Kolodkin - saxophone, vocal
Eugene Ostshepkov - piano
The SHAKER perform both in Russian (their stuff) and in English (rock-and-roll standards). Up to now they recorded material fit for 1,5 albums - a demo "Prehistoric rock and roll" and half of album "Nasty Guys". The band actively gigs in Kirov and they are considered the most vivid local gang. As the key moments in the band career the guys consider meeting
MISTER
TWISTER, who came to play at the local circus in 1995, and hanging around with OFFBEAT in 2000.
At the end of 2000 the SHAKER visited Inta,
the capital of the neighbouring republic of Komi and rocked that town, having played 1,5-hour
show at the 500-seat hall and at B52 Club later that night.
The SHAKER are particularly adored by the students. No party is held in the city without their shakes. The
have band played practically all local clubs and nowadays they can be heard at
the American Saloon restaurant. |
